INTEGRATION OF YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHIC ARTISTS

With twenty-four dancers on contracts of indeterminate length, Ballet Preljocaj ensures that choreographic artists will be able to pursue a professional career. Investing heavily in preparing for their retraining, the company is also involved in the professional inclusion of young dancers who have recently left conservatoires or higher education collages in France or elsewhere.

AN ORIGINAL PROJECT

Prompted by considerations carried out by the group of National Choreographic Centres / Ballets, Malandain Ballet Biarritz, Ballet du Rhin, Ballet National de Marseille, the Professional Training Program is a highly original project in the field of dance. It is based on systems that already exist in the sectors of theatre (JTN) and music (Jeunes orchestres).

Renamed Ballet Preljocaj Junior this arrangement, unique in the field of dance, is aimed at integrating young artists in professional life and offering them advanced technical mastery.

The programme is built around an 11-month period of professionalisation within the context of a graduate apprenticeship contract (Master’s 2) or a last year of training for the DNSPD (Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Danseur) in France, or a last year of training in the European schools.

NEW GROUP

The new group will be welcomed on September 2017. Six dancers joined the cell, via a pre-selection followed by an audition within the context of the European and international programmes of higher education colleges.

They will go on tour with the Ballet Preljocaj, dance the repertoire, and discover skills relating to the life of a professional company and a programming venue (production, technology, communication…).

THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS

In cooperation with partner schools, students are shortlisted by theirs directors and professors to participate in the audition which takes place at the Pavillon Noir, Aix-en-Provence.

The audition occurs during three days. Candidates follow contomporary and classical dance courses, as well as workshops of repertoire based on Angelin Preljocaj's creations.

A selection takes place at the end of the second day. The last day, a session of improvisation is organised following by a personal interview.
