The Amazon of Johannesburg overturned our vision of Ophelia in Hamlet, of Odile in Swan Lake and Carmen. Here she turns the grief of Giselle into rebellion and the Wilis into spirits. The history of the diminutive ingénue moves from cold to warm, thanks to the exuberant energy of this choreographic manifesto.

Dada Masilo collaborated with William Kentridge on his Refuse the Hour. Discovered in 2011 with her solo Bitter End of Rosemary, today with her rereading of the European classics she demonstrates how South African dance can make use of the vocabulary of romanticism.
