With this ballet, Angelin Preljocaj turns himself into a story-teller for the modern day. Snow White, as interpreted by the choreographer, is first and foremost a story of a mother who doesn’t want to grow old and die… It’s a story of upside-down learning tale for adults who want to believe in eternal beauty. More than a tale, the magical, many-faceted Snow White is also the exact counterpart of the minimal Empty moves, questioning our dual European and American links. Although it often borrows from entertainment and its codes, choreography still gives us plenty to think about.
