About the piece :

Encouraged by the public success of his precedent creation, Thierry Baë gives here the continuation to Journal d’inquiétude, a piece full of laughter which was based upon his struggles as a choregrapher (budgetary problems, difficult relations between professionals), and as a dancer (most notably the lack of breath which escalates with age).

The volontarily comic character is always present, as is the use of video. The present reflection picks up from where Journal d’inquiétude left off, revealing his darkest corners with the central question : which forces in the past have enabled the artist to overcome these hurdles and what resources are needed to continue to evolve in this « impossible dance » ? The question of related practical experiences, such as Yoga, Taï Chi Chuan, or martial arts is at the heart of  his proposal and that of his invited guests. These methods have a tendency to substitute the traditional training of a dancer who can feel, despite the comfort of an understood language, a framework which is often rigid and constrictive.

About the choreographer :

After training at the school of Beaux-Arts in Reims and the mime school of Marcel Marceau, between 1986 and 1997 Thierry Baë participated in all of the choreographies of Catherine Diverrès as well as creations by Josef Nadj (Canard pékinois, L’Effet boeuf, Les Philosophes). During his journey as a performer he continued to produce his own creations and teaching Taï Chi Chuan. In 1997, along with his companion Marion (also choreographer and a graduate of Body Mind Centering) founded the Compagnie Traits de ciel, developing their own choreographies and heading research work based around improvisation, as well as out-reach activities and teaching, both in France and abroad.
