A tale of fantasy and japanese legend, here are both sides of a dream-like universe imagined by kaori Ito for her ballet Noctiluque. Taking a japanese ghost story as its starting point, the choreographer opens out into theatre, circus, and soars into poetic aerial movement. The luxurious set is an immense kimono of red curtains, allowing the movement to be constantly suspended in a ffloating world as a new “magical illusion”. Classical in form, and lying somewhere between manga and contortionism, kaori Ito has been the heroine for Philippe decoufflé, Angelin Preljocaj and james thierrée.
